Within Hirtle Callaghan, Private Equity is the responsibility of a discreet investment team. This team invests globally in private equity limited partnerships focusing on venture capital, buyouts, debt and real estate on behalf of our clients. In addition to committing capital to a diverse set of limited partnerships each year, the team is responsible for the accounting and administration of these investments, managing their risk, monitoring their performance and reporting results. Additionally, the team monitors legacy portfolios of private equity and related investments assembled by the clients. The private equity team spends considerable time supporting Hirtle Callaghan client development across the United States.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Portfolio Manager - Private Equity will have significant responsibility in the development and management of the private equity initiatives at Hirtle Callaghan. This role will be a key contributor to the portfolio construction, identifying sectors, managers and funds in which private equity invests could be made. Additionally, in conjunction with other private equity managers, the role will represent the firm for clients, managers and prospects as it relates to the Hirtle Callaghan private equity program.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work in conjunction with the Director of Private Equity to represent private equity activities and investments within the firm. Specifically as private equity relates to clients, define and explain the private equity strategy and overall firm investment objectives.
In coordination with the Director of Private Equity, identifying specific sectors, managers and funds in which private equity investments could be made. Provide support with negotiations and closing commitments, including presentations of recommendations to the Investment Policy Committee.
Be a key contributor to the portfolio construction planning and risk/return modeling.
Oversee maintenance and production of deal log and other processes and systems pertaining to new investment activity.
Perform due diligence for potential investments by participating in GP site visits, manager meetings, and conducting reference checks. Review due diligence, accounting, and other financial analyses performed by other members of the Private Equity team.
Organize, conduct, and oversee research initiatives into markets, sectors, investment types or other areas of potential opportunity.
Ongoing monitoring of HCPE program holdings, through attendance at GP annual meetings and periodic GP calls, and the periodic review of holdings, including analyses prepared by the members of the Private Equity team.
Contribute to the collective knowledge of the Private Equity group by keeping current with the private equity markets and news, and sharing relevant news and finding when applicable.
Provide leadership and support to the staff within the private equity function, working with the Director of Private Equity to coordinate training.

QUALIFICATIONS
Master degree preferred, bachelor's degree required
7-10 years experience in Private Equity
Strong interpersonal, management and communication skills a must
